The amazing Frankfort village is located in Will County, Illinois, United States. It is reportedly one of the fastest growing towns regarding population ranking at number 36 in the whole world. Frankfort got its name as a designation by the official board of will county. It was initially called Frankfort Township since 1800. Evidence of this first name is found in most documents of that time. This place was formed into identified as a village in 1879 by its first inhabitants of an American origin. Frankfort was part of the Virginia territory before the French invasion which led to its chief signing a treaty with them. The location of this village between the St Joseph and Des Plaines rivers is what led to its first access through Des planes river. The first outsiders, most of were English men came by wagons from the southwest direction and the road they used still exists today to the amazement of historians. English people settled in Frankfort, but it is the Germans who made the village lively when a large number of them moved there in the 1840s. The Germans were escaping from extreme conditions in their country which proved to be very profitable for America's Frank fort as the newcomers were experienced farmers and very industrious. In short, the fertile land was turned into a production source, and this habit was carried across all the generations. This town, now called Frankfort Township was initially part of the Hickory Creek Precinct as Will County was divided into ten precincts. In 1850, The County was turned into a township form of government. It is interesting to know that Frederick Cappel was the one who named Frankfort Township speculatively after his original German home. Another aspect of the following changes of the Frankfort name was the railway building which left terms due to stations location. The government John MacDonald, the first railroad agent in Frankfort, was elected as the village president in 1879. The community succeeded in establishing a government and other developments followed closely. The first step the new authority took was making new land policies which were crucial. The policies which were expressed in the form of traditional grids covered all land uses including businesses, private lands and public lands for schools and recreational places. Currently, Frankfort has a congressional district division Illinois 11th congressional district accommodates the largest part of the village while the remaining portion is in the second district, cook district. Frankfort town contribution to the state Frankfort, however small it is, has contributed to not only to the economy but also in sports, politics, cultural research and entertainment. Several well-known entertainers and sportsmen and women lived in Frankfort. Singer Dennis DeYoung and baseballer Lou Boudreau are some of the former Frankfort residents. Sports wise, the 2005 state football championships awards were won by Lincoln-way East high school from Frankfort. Other games won were gymnastics, softball, marching band, and Summer baseball.
